Ethanol, also referred to as bio-ethanol, is a renewable energy source that arises from the fermentation of organic materials. These materials, or feedstock’s are mainly composed of crops for example corn, sugarcane and different types of grains but in the more developed plants, agricultural wastes such as straw and biomass can also be used. Bio-ethanol plant is mainly used as a fuel, mixed with gasoline to lower the extent to which vehicles rely on fossil fuels and the amount of toxic compounds emitted.
This is because bio-ethanol is preferred since the fuel is renewable in nature. It is therefore possible to consider the use of Bio Ethanol to be a closed system in as much as the use of fossil fuels which take millions of years to form and release a huge amount of carbon when burned.
